David Rests in the Wadi at Sunrise
David sits on a boulder in a rocky wadi with his sword across his knees, looking up as the first sunrise light falls on his face.
Prompt
Psalm 13: "How long will you forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long will you hide your face from me?... lighten my eyes... But I have trusted in your mercy." David, worn out from long flight, sits on a boulder at the bottom of a deep rocky wadi in the Judean wilderness, his elbows on his knees and his sword laid across them, lifting his tired, searching face toward the sky. The first golden rays of sunrise spill over the rim of the canyon and fall full on his face, turning sorrow into hope. He is large and central; the sand-coloured cliffs rise simply behind him under a clear pale sky. Style: a blend of photo-realism and cinema, like a still from a big-budget film. Bright, rich, saturated, luminous colour, clear daylight or glowing golden light even in dramatic scenes, never murky or muddy, crisp detail, real human faces full of emotion, shallow depth of field, subtle film grain. Simple, uncluttered composition: ONE clear scene from this chapter, with the chapter's main character or characters large, close and central in the upper and middle frame, and a simple background. No montage, no collage, no inset vignettes, no crowd of small figures competing for attention. Historically accurate ancient Near Eastern clothing, architecture and landscape. Keep the bottom quarter of the frame simple and uncluttered (ground, water or sky) so a large chapter number can be set over it. Absolutely no text, no letters, no words, no numbers, no logos, no watermark, no border, no frame.
