Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion. A sorrowful man sits alone, large and central, on the flat roof of a humble house at dusk, wrapped in a coarse mantle, ashes on his head and a cup in his hands, tears on his cheeks; a single small sparrow perches on the parapet near him. Beyond him the broken walls of Zion lie under a vast glowing amber and violet sky. Lonely, yet waiting in hope. The men wear wrapped turbans or head-cloths over their hair.
