Zechariah Sees the Surveyor Measure Jerusalem
The prophet Zechariah stands on a hill beside a young man stretching a measuring cord toward a city at sunrise. A ring of golden fire surrounds the unwalled city.
Prompt
Zechariah 2: "I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand... Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls... For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her." On a hill overlooking Jerusalem at sunrise, the prophet Zechariah, wearing a simple wrapped head cloth, stands large and central watching a young surveyor in a short tunic and turban stretch out a long knotted measuring cord toward the city; beyond them the unwalled city spreads over the hills, encircled by a gentle ring of golden fire and bathed in glorious light. Radiant, warm dawn light, gold and blue. Style: a blend of photo-realism and cinema, like a still from a big-budget film. Bright, rich, saturated, luminous colour, clear daylight or glowing golden light even in dramatic scenes, never murky or muddy, crisp detail, real human faces full of emotion, shallow depth of field, subtle film grain. Simple, uncluttered composition: ONE clear scene from this chapter, with the chapter's main character or characters large, close and central in the upper and middle frame, and a simple background. No montage, no collage, no inset vignettes, no crowd of small figures competing for attention. Historically accurate ancient Near Eastern clothing, architecture and landscape. Keep the bottom quarter of the frame simple and uncluttered (ground, water or sky) so a large chapter number can be set over it. Absolutely no text, no letters, no words, no numbers, no logos, no watermark, no border, no frame.
