Paul in Chains Dictates a Letter to Luke
A chained man sits on straw in a dim stone cell while a companion writes on parchment by an oil lamp. A scroll lies on a stone block.
Prompt
2 Timothy 2: 'Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.' In a cold stone prison cell in Rome, Paul, now old and worn, sits large and central on a stone ledge with heavy iron chains on his wrists, and with a steady, hopeful face hands a rolled and sealed papyrus letter to Luke, the beloved physician, who kneels before him to carry it out into the world. A bright shaft of daylight falls through the barred opening above onto the letter and their faces. Rough stone walls, a straw-strewn floor. Style: a blend of photo-realism and cinema, like a still from a big-budget film. Bright, rich, saturated, luminous colour, clear daylight or glowing golden light even in dramatic scenes, never murky or muddy, crisp detail, real human faces full of emotion, shallow depth of field, subtle film grain. Simple, uncluttered composition: ONE clear scene from this chapter, with the chapter's main character or characters large, close and central in the upper and middle frame, and a simple background. No montage, no collage, no inset vignettes, no crowd of small figures competing for attention. Historically accurate ancient Near Eastern clothing, architecture and landscape. Keep the bottom quarter of the frame simple and uncluttered (ground, water or sky) so a large chapter number can be set over it. Absolutely no text, no letters, no words, no numbers, no logos, no watermark, no border, no frame.
