An old, wealthy man in rich embroidered robes and gold rings lies dying on a luxurious couch, his frail hand slipping from an open chest overflowing with gold and silver; his eyes stare ahead, realising it cannot save him. He is large and central. Beside him on a stool sits a Levite singer of the sons of Korah, quietly playing a small harp, his face calm and full of understanding.
