2 Chronicles 7: Fire comes down from heaven and consumes the burnt offering on the great bronze altar, and the glory of the LORD fills the house; King Solomon and all Israel bow with their faces to the ground upon the pavement and worship. Seen from the side at ground level: the great square bronze altar with horns stands at upper centre, engulfed by a tremendous torrent of white-gold fire pouring straight down from a bright opening in the clouds; in the foreground King Solomon, crowned and in royal robes, kneels large on the stone pavement, bowing low with his forehead nearly to the ground and his hands flat before him, his face turned slightly toward the fire in awe; beside him two priests in white linen lie prostrate. There is no platform. Behind the altar, the temple porch with its two bronze pillars overflows with luminous glory-cloud. God's presence shown only as fire, light and cloud, no figure. Radiant, warm, overwhelming holiness. Style: a blend of photo-realism and cinema, like a still from a big-budget film.
