David Sits Bowed Down in Grief and Illness
A crowned king in purple robes sits slumped on a stone bench with a hand pressed to his chest and eyes lifted. Courtiers stand apart at the back of the courtyard.
Prompt
Psalm 38 (a Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance): "My iniquities are gone over my head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me... I am bowed down greatly... My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off." King David, ill and grief-stricken, sits slumped on a stone bench in a sunlit palace courtyard, his shoulders bowed as if under a great weight, one hand pressed to his chest and his eyes lifted in a weary plea, "Forsake me not, O LORD." He is large and central. Far behind him across the courtyard, under a colonnade, a few courtiers in fine robes stand apart in a little group, watching from a distance and whispering. Soft warm afternoon light. Style: a blend of photo-realism and cinema, like a still from a big-budget film. Bright, rich, saturated, luminous colour, clear daylight or glowing golden light even in dramatic scenes, never murky or muddy, crisp detail, real human faces full of emotion, shallow depth of field, subtle film grain. Simple, uncluttered composition: ONE clear scene from this chapter, with the chapter's main character or characters large, close and central in the upper and middle frame, and a simple background. No montage, no collage, no inset vignettes, no crowd of small figures competing for attention. Historically accurate ancient Near Eastern clothing, architecture and landscape. Keep the bottom quarter of the frame simple and uncluttered (ground, water or sky) so a large chapter number can be set over it. Absolutely no text, no letters, no words, no numbers, no logos, no watermark, no border, no frame.
