Rehoboam Holds a Bronze Shield
King Rehoboam looks down at a plain bronze shield in a guard chamber. Guardsmen with more bronze shields stand beside him and empty pegs hang on the wall.
Prompt
2 Chronicles 12: After Shishak king of Egypt carries away the treasures of the house of the LORD and Solomon's shields of gold, King Rehoboam makes shields of bronze instead and commits them to the chief of the guard at the entrance of the king's house. Rehoboam, crowned and in purple robes but humbled, is large and central, holding one dull bronze shield and gazing at it with regret and shame; beside him the captain of the guard and two guardsmen hold more plain bronze round shields; on the wall behind them hang empty pegs where the golden shields once gleamed. Inside a stone guard chamber at the palace gate, a shaft of clear afternoon sunlight falls on the bronze; a sober, chastened mood. Style: a blend of photo-realism and cinema, like a still from a big-budget film. Bright, rich, saturated, luminous colour, clear daylight or glowing golden light even in dramatic scenes, never murky or muddy, crisp detail, real human faces full of emotion, shallow depth of field, subtle film grain. Simple, uncluttered composition: ONE clear scene from this chapter, with the chapter's main character or characters large, close and central in the upper and middle frame, and a simple background. No montage, no collage, no inset vignettes, no crowd of small figures competing for attention. Historically accurate ancient Near Eastern clothing, architecture and landscape. Keep the bottom quarter of the frame simple and uncluttered (ground, water or sky) so a large chapter number can be set over it. Absolutely no text, no letters, no words, no numbers, no logos, no watermark, no border, no frame.
