Widow and Her Son Pass a Hidden Robber
A poor widow holds her young son's hand and a small bundle as she looks up to heaven in a village lane. A robber with a net crouches in the shadow of a wall behind them.
Prompt
Psalm 10: "He lies in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lies in wait to catch the poor... the poor commits himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless." On a narrow lane between the stone houses of a Judean village, a poor widow in a worn shawl walks holding the hand of her small fatherless son, carrying a little bundle; she pauses and lifts her eyes to the sky in a silent plea, "Arise, O LORD; forget not the humble." The mother and child are large and central in warm late-afternoon light. Behind a crumbling wall in the shadows to one side, a hard-faced robber in a dark cloak crouches in ambush with a net in his hands, watching them like a lion in its den. Style: a blend of photo-realism and cinema, like a still from a big-budget film. Bright, rich, saturated, luminous colour, clear daylight or glowing golden light even in dramatic scenes, never murky or muddy, crisp detail, real human faces full of emotion, shallow depth of field, subtle film grain. Simple, uncluttered composition: ONE clear scene from this chapter, with the chapter's main character or characters large, close and central in the upper and middle frame, and a simple background. No montage, no collage, no inset vignettes, no crowd of small figures competing for attention. Historically accurate ancient Near Eastern clothing, architecture and landscape. Keep the bottom quarter of the frame simple and uncluttered (ground, water or sky) so a large chapter number can be set over it. Absolutely no text, no letters, no words, no numbers, no logos, no watermark, no border, no frame.
