The Amalekite Brings Saul's Crown to David
A man kneeling in torn clothes holds out a gold crown and armband to David, who tears the neck of his tunic and weeps. David's men stand behind him.
Prompt
2 Samuel 1: At Ziklag a young Amalekite, his clothes torn and earth on his head, bows before David and holds up King Saul's golden crown and armband, and David tears his clothes in grief for Saul and Jonathan. David is large and central, standing and gripping the neck of his tunic as he rips it, his face anguished with sorrow, tears running down. The Amalekite kneels before him, presenting the gleaming gold crown and bracelet on outstretched hands. Behind, out of focus, a few of David's men also tearing their garments, and the rebuilt mud-brick walls of Ziklag under a bright, pale afternoon sky; grief-stricken, mournful mood. Style: a blend of photo-realism and cinema, like a still from a big-budget film. Bright, rich, saturated, luminous colour, clear daylight or glowing golden light even in dramatic scenes, never murky or muddy, crisp detail, real human faces full of emotion, shallow depth of field, subtle film grain. Simple, uncluttered composition: ONE clear scene from this chapter, with the chapter's main character or characters large, close and central in the upper and middle frame, and a simple background. No montage, no collage, no inset vignettes, no crowd of small figures competing for attention. Historically accurate ancient Near Eastern clothing, architecture and landscape. Keep the bottom quarter of the frame simple and uncluttered (ground, water or sky) so a large chapter number can be set over it. Absolutely no text, no letters, no words, no numbers, no logos, no watermark, no border, no frame.
